Native edible plants, environmentally friendly foods

Mystastrious is a small horticultural business in Tasmania that is trying to clear up the mystery of Tasmania’s forgotten foods. My name is Rebecca Siemerink and I have education and experience in horticulture, business and hospitality and I specialise in our native edible plants. My business Mystastrious offers horticultural consultation, gardening services, educational activities and is aiming to increase the general knowledge of native edible plants and promote their use.

Are there any gardeners or farmers looking to grow foods at a lower cost? Native edible plants are happy to grow in natural, unenhanced soils and are able to handle their surrounding climate. Species can also survive a lifetime on the moisture around them and the water that falls from the sky as rain.

Could the Agricultural Industry become more environmentally friendly by adopting the native species for their crops?

Mystastrious hopes to raise funds to further the business plan, to better educate itself on topics as dry farming and to educate other Tasmanians about the range of foods that nature has provided for us. Once better educated, Mystastrious would like to raise further funds to sponsor trial crops for interested farmers with the hope of reducing some of the farming costs.

Please donate if you would like to support my fundraising mission.
