Rhagodia candolleana is an edible species from the Chenopodiaceae/Goosefoot family with a distribution along Australia’s south and south-eastern sea-spray coasts, photographed today on the rear of the dunes at Carlton Beach Tasmania. This website’s first blog in March 2019 visited the edible berries of this species and today we visit the leaves. The small succulent leaves are abundant on this plant and are best picked and plucked a branch at a time. The tasty leaves have a grassy-cucumber flavor which we really enjoy eating both fresh in salads and sandwiches and cooked in stir-fires, quiches and soups.
