Acacia longifolia/Coastal Wattle is an edible species from the Mimosaceae family with a widespread distribution along the sandy coasts of Tasmania and other Australian states. The photos below show the legume at different stages of growth, the peas and seeds are edible and have a high protein content. The dry seeds can be roasted and ground then added to baked foods such as muffins, biscuits and bread. We eat the green peas fresh or cooked and add them to meals as you would add a regular green pea.
