Mentha australis

Mentha australis/River Mint is an edible species from the Laminaceae family and at is native to eastern Australia, photographed here in my garden. The leaf is edible and has an uplifting spearmint aroma and flavor. As with all mint we consume sparingly and eat as a garnish on drinks and food, rather than eat as a main ingredient. This species is listed as endangered but is available for sale in nurseries, making a hardy garden or pot plant.
